Full house at ’On Body and Soul’ screening for New York's film industry elite

The Hungarian Cultural Center in New York and Netflix joined forces to promote Ildikó Enyedi's Oscar-nominated movie, ‘On Body and Soul’, just a week before the gala.

An exclusive screening took place this Sunday at The Whitby Hotel, followed by a Q&A session with the director and screenwriter, moderated by Indiewire journalist, member of the New York Film Critics Circle Eric Kohn. 

The screening room of the design hotel, The Whitby was packed past Sunday afternoon - members of New York City's filmmaking elite gathered for an exclusive screening of Hungary's third Oscar-shortlisted movie, On Body and Soul.

The event was attended by local members of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, professors from the largest higher education institute producing films in the United States, the New York University, representatives of the New York Women in Film and Television, film festivals, the Museum of the Moving Image and others. 

Welcoming the crowd before the screening, head of the Hungarian Cultural Center Máté Vincze recalled that three Oscars-nominations in three years is a wonderful recognition of Hungarian filmmaking, which is in next golden era. 

Director and screenwriter Ildikó Enyedi answered questions regarding the symbolism of the movie, explained difficult technical challenges along the way, and accepted congratulations of a very much engaged crowd.
