For the first time we could have an October 23 commemoration at the completed 1956 Memorial in New York. We were honored by the presence and remarks of Hungarian Minister of National Development, Miklós Seszták, NY Assemblywoman, Nicole Malliotakis, mayoral candidate in NYC, and former US Ambassador to Budapest, Colleen Bell.

It was great to have Szilveszter Vizi E., president of the Friends of Hungary organization among the guests. László Papp, the president of the Memorial Committee also addressed the ca. 70-80 strong audience in the Riverside Park, Upper West Side of Manhattan. A year ago, on the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian revolution the memorial was almost completed, and could be inaugurated only on March 15 this year. The preparatory works for a 1956 memorial in NYC started 11 years ago.
