Hungarian Cultural Institute held screening and discussion of Gábor Bódy’s award winning movie ‘American Torso’ yesterday at the Consulate.

The Feature Film Night was followed by a vivid discussion about the artist and the movie led by NYU’s Karl Bardosch. The late Gábor Bódy is one of the most outstanding figures of Hungarian cinema and the Béla Balázs Studio. He continues to exert his influence on filmmakers and film-lovers alike being a constant inspiration of cinema through his radical and unconventional approaches in filmmaking.

The event was organized as part of the Insitute’s Counter Culture Programming Series, focusing on artistic resistance during the era of State Socialism in Hungary in the Sixties and the Seventies.
